Eastern Programme
WWF started working in Eastern DRC in the mid-1980s, through a programme largely focused on Protected Areas in some of the most emblematic sites: Garamba National Park, Okapi Wildlife Reserve, Virunga National Park and Kahuzi-Biega National Park. We have maintained a continuous presence in the area despite protracted armed conflicts and chronic instability.
Today, our Eastern DRC Programme is rolled out in two key locations: the Virunga Landscape and Itombwe forest.
